Our Mission
Empowering young people through long-term, life-changing mentoring.
Big Brothers Big Sisters helps Australian children and young people by matching them with a volunteer mentor for at least 12 months—often much longer. These one-on-one relationships provide the consistent support and guidance young people need to build confidence, resilience, and life skills.

For those facing tough challenges like family violence, poverty or social isolation, having a trusted mentor makes a real difference. It’s about more than just advice—it’s about showing up, listening and being there. The impact lasts a lifetime, not just for the young person but for the mentor, families, and the wider community.
How We Help
Breaking cycles of adversity through long-term mentoring.
We don’t do quick fixes. Long-term, consistent support is what changes lives. A mentor isn’t just someone to talk to—they help young people build self-belief, make good choices and feel like they belong.
With just 1–2 hours a week, mentors provide the stability and encouragement young people need to thrive. Over time, these relationships help break down barriers, open doors to new opportunities and build stronger futures.
Our commitment to child safety, cultural safety and inclusivity is at the core of everything we do. Every young person deserves a safe, supportive space to grow, and we make sure our mentoring program provides exactly that.
